Personal Website
WordPress Nginx Ubuntu VPS {http://wernull.com}
The main goal for this version of my personal website was to start blogging. After setting up a few WordPress sites for friends, I felt like this would be the best solution for my blogging needs. Since I am not a designer, I decided to find a pre-built theme and modify it to my liking. This sites theme started from Lucid by Elegant Themes. My modifications mostly involved reducing animations and embellishments to get a more minimal look. There was also a bit of work done to iron out some responsiveness issues.
This idea to start a blog also came with the desire to experiment with a new server stack. Just in case one of the articles happened to spike traffic, I wanted to make sure anyone who attempted to read my words got the chance to do so. After seeking advice from coworkers, I went with an Ubuntu VPS running Nginx, PHP-FPM and setup for WordPress. This was a bit different from the Apache environment I was use to, but well worth the effort.
Another spinoff project from this blog was to start working on some plugins. After building a few WordPress sites for friends, I had collected some custom functions that were copied back and forth. The first one to come out of this is called WordPress Unbranded.
